Comeback Lions clinch region

Neither freezing precipitation nor the Mesquite Poteet Pirates (12-2, 6-1, 10-4A) could hold the Ennis Lions (14-0, 7-0, 15-4A) at bay Thursday night.

“(The weather) hurt us running our offense just like it hurt them running their offense but it didn’t faze the kids mentally and that’s what I’m proud of,” Lion head coach Jack Alvarez said.

The game was a defensive battle from start to finish.
