Religious and community leaders in Ennis will host a National Day of Prayer event at Lions Park at 6:30 p.m. tonight under the pavilion.

The Rev. Darrell Nelson, who has organized efforts to observe National Day of Prayer in the community in recent years, said the group is privileged to have an array of personalities set to participate.

“I anticipate a great time as we gather to lift our nation and city in prayer before the living God,” Nelson said. “Scripture tells us ‘prayer changes things.’ If that be true, and I believe it is, then I (we) have the privilege and responsibility to pray.”
