Confidentiality shrouds jail privatization details

Details on exactly how a proposed jail privatization arrangement would save Ellis County money remain scarce after the Commissioners Court meeting on Monday, as several county officials declined to comment on specifics citing confidentiality.

County Auditor Mike Navarro and Purchasing Agent Kim Gould spoke at Monday’s meeting, relaying the jail management feasibility committee’s recommendation that if the county were to opt to privatize the operation of the Ellis County Jail, that they choose New Jersey-based Community Education Centers as the company to do so.
