County judge: Privatizing jail worth consideration

County Judge Carol Bush said Ellis County could save $2 million-$3 million by allowing a private corporation to manage the Wayne McCollum Detention Center.
Bush said the concept originated when Sheriff Johnny Brown asked the court to entertain the possibility of entering into an interlocal agreement with neighboring Johnson County to house overflow ICE detainees.
