Court adopts countywide fire code

The Ellis County Commissioners Court voted to adopt a countywide fire code Monday night, but Fire Marshal Joe Stewart said he’s in no hurry to get older structures in line with it.
The code, modeled on the 2009 International Fire Code adopted by several governments in Texas, won’t overlap with already established city codes but will instead work in tandem with them.
