Crisis averted


Ennis Daily News photo by Phil Banker / Area firefighters averted disaster Thursday when a grass fire threatened a nearby gas station. Lt. Dennis Cozby of the Garrett Police Department said firefighters from Ennis and Garrett managed to stop the fire roughly 20 yards away from the Exxon station on northbound Interstate 45. No one at the scene knew how the fire began.
