Cuts expected to up local need

The executive director of Helping Hands of Ennis said she expects to see a “trickle-down effect” from food stamp cuts going into effect today.

Increases to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program authorized by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 expired today, reducing the amount of aid available to American families on government assistance.
