Deputies, SPCA seize cats in Avalon
In all, the SPCA of Texas and Ellis County Sheriff’s Deputies seized 25 cats from a home in Avalon on Wednesday. Investigators described the environment as unlivable for humans and cats alike.

A custody hearing to decide the fate of 25 cats taken from an Avalon-area home has been set for 1:30 p.m. Dec. 13.
The Ellis County Sheriff’s Office and the SPCA of Texas seized the cats on Wednesday.
Maura Davies, vice president of communications for the SPCA of Texas, said the sheriff’s office contacted them regarding reports of cats in an unsuitable environment in an Avalon home.
