Downtown’s trick-or-treat ended over cost

The city’s customary downtown trick-or-treat event isn’t happening this year.

Jeannette Patak, head of the Ennis Chamber of Commerce, said the chamber and the Downtown Merchants Association cannot afford the cost of hosting the evening event. The event has typically been a free, costumes-encouraged outing featuring candy, games and visitors that included area fire departments, businesses and other organizations.
