Drought plan comes online within week

Ennis is preparing to activate its Stage 1 Drought Contingency Plan on Monday. The plan involves voluntary measures to control water use, including scheduled sprinkler watering for community lawns.

No restrictions for hand-held hose watering or watering of newly planted landscaping are part of the Stage 1 plan, which becomes active when Lake Bardwell declines to 417 feet elevation. Its elevation stood at 417.09 feet this morning.
