EDC land deal on hold

A land deal between the Ennis Economic Development Corporation and the Fallen family was delayed after a vote to approve it failed to pass Monday night.

Economic Development Coordinator Marty Nelson presented the deal to the Ennis City Commission in which the EDC would purchase a lot measured at roughly 44 acres from the Fallen family for $657,750. However, several commissioners objected to the deal citing concerns, including not having public meetings on the purchase, as well as the lack of an independent appraisal.
