Ennis Junior High School eighth grader Joseph Valek represented the school at the Houston Livestock Show on Saturday and took second place in the agricultural mechanics show.

Todd Penrod, EJHS agricultural science teacher, confirmed the tandem axle utility trailer built by Valek and classmates Jason Elliot and Justin Mraz took second place out of a field of 40 competitors.

Penrod said seventh grade student Madeline McCoby also assisted in bookkeeping and photographing the project as they built it in the EJHS metal shop class.
