Ennis tabs Alvarez as coach

Jack Alvarez was tabbed as the successor to longtime head coach Sam Harrell, who resigned amid health concerns prior to the start of the 2010 football season.

On Tuesday night, the Ennis Independent School District’s Board of Trustees voted unanimously to hire Jack Alvarez as the new head coach of Lion football.
After board members met for roughly 10 minutes, David Estes announced the board’s recommendation to hire Alvarez. Board president Mack Boyd thanked the six-person group in charge of the coach search for their hard work this month, and then Alvarez uttered a spirited “Go Lions!” in his first moments as Ennis coach.
