Fira’s grand slam downs Poteet

The Mesquite Poteet Pirates advanced to the state softball tournament just two years ago, but they couldn’t handle the Lady Lions in 2011.
Ennis (23-10, 11-3) led for all but a half-inning of play in Friday’s 8-3 road win. After Poteet tied the game up at 3-3 in the bottom of the seventh, the Lady Lions left no doubt with a five-run eighth highlighted by sophomore Riley Fira’s first career grand slam. Ennis finished with more hits (14-6) and errors (3-1).
