Flu hitting hard in Texas, Ennis included

Ennis, along with the rest of Texas and much of the southern United States, is suffering from a higher-than-average prevalence of flu cases this winter, with a number of them classified as the H1N1 type, known as swine flu.

Dr. De’Andre Brown, medical director of Urgent Plus Care and Ennis Regional Medical Center chairman of critical care said he’s seen a noticeable spike in flu and flu-related illnesses in recent weeks.

“Most of the cases have been influenza type A,” Brown said.
