Phil Bankerp...@ennisdailynews.com

The annual Give-a-Kid-a-Chance back to school event is ready to roll on Saturday, Aug. 16.

Organizer Marty Nelson said volunteers have gathered almost 1,300 backpacks full of school supplies and uniforms to give out to local school children starting at 8 a.m. Saturday morning at Ennis High School.

“We were especially blessed this year, as the Salvation Army donated 100 backpacks to serve the families who signed up after the registration period closed,” Nelson said. “We are ready to go, in that all the uniforms and school supplies are in.”
