Grant lets SPCA offer free spay, neuter

Ellis County’s SPCA has good news for animal lovers — through August, the group will help qualifying pet owners get free spaying and neutering for their animals.
As part of a cooperative agreement with the Kaufman County Animal Awareness Project, the Ellis County animal welfare organization has about $20,000 in grant proceeds to fund the free procedures. SPCA Director Christian Parker said the windfall opportunity is available to pet owners with two or more animals in their homes, but only until Aug. 31.
