High alert follows chilling slayings

Multiple agencies from the local, state and federal levels have joined the investigation into the Saturday shooting deaths of Kaufman County District Attorney Mike McLelland and his wife Cynthia.

Justin Lewis, Kaufman County Sheriff’s Office spokesman, released a statement Monday saying deputies responded to a reported shooting at approximately 6 p.m. in an unincorporated part of Kaufman County. Deputies found the McLellands dead in their home of gunshot wounds.
