Lady Lions fall to Aledo

Mark Warde, edi...@ennisdailynews.com

AUSTIN — A slow start and a handful of mysterious calls combined with a hot-hitting Aledo team led to a 10-3 loss for Ennis in the Class 4A championship on Saturday.

The win cut short the Lady Lions dream of their first state title. They finished the season with a 38-6-1 mark. No team won more than Ennis. That fact was of little consolation after Aledo rolled to a 10-0 lead and coasted the rest of the way.

The championship was the first for the Ladycats (33-4), who were making their third trip to Austin. It avenged a 5-2 loss to Ennis in the second game of the year for Aledo.
