Lions coach speaks at Lions Club

Mark Warde[email protected]

Jack Alvarez, athletic director and head football coach at Ennis High School, told a crowd on Wednesday his 2014 edition of the Lions already have a bullseye stamped on their backs. Wreaking of confidence, he said the advance printing of playoff tickets might not be a bad idea.

Last fall the team rolled its way to the Class 4A semi-finals before falling to eventual state champion Aledo. A 14-1 record gives credence to this year’s no. 4 preseason state ranking.

“I’ve seen us rated in various polls from no. 4 to no. 9,” he said. “But I will tell you this. Our guys are working hard and we have a lot of returning veterans. I feel very confident that we’re gonna be pretty good.”
