As Lion tennis coach Keith Howard always says, the regional tournament is essentially the state tournament in Region 2.
After all, state champions in all five draws each of the last two years have come exclusively from Region 2. The dozen Ennis players that went to Denton on Tuesday and Wednesday were all on the regional stage for the first time and found out just how strong the competitive field is at that level.
