With the ACS Relay For Life of Ennis less than one week away, it’s not too late to honor loved ones with recognition at the event.
Luminaria bags can still be purchased for the ceremony, which will kick off at 9 p.m. on April 29 during the Relay For Life of Ennis at the Texas Motorplex.
“The luminaria bags represent a person who has passed away from cancer or who is a survivor of cancer,” said Denise Massengill, luminaria chairperson. “We make one bag for each person and we ask for a donation of $5 for the bags.”
During the Relay For Life, which will run from 6 p.m. on April 29 until 6 a.m. on April 30, teams will take turns walking or running around the track.
Teams consist of varying numbers of individuals representing businesses, churches, organizations, friends, family and more.
This year’s luminaria ceremony will feature EISD Superintendent Barbara Qualls as the speaker.
“At 9 p.m. we’ll have the luminaria ceremony with songs, poems and the reading of the names,” Massengill said.
