Market nears grand opening

Nick Todaro[email protected]

The Ennis Farmer’s Market is ready to open in downtown.

Marty Nelson, head of the city’s economic development division, has led the charge to organize the market since its inception and public revelation in January. Months of planning and preparation culminate with the opening at 9 a.m. April 26.

“Although a key component of our efforts to revitalize the historic downtown, the Farmer’s Market is a symbol of our collective desire to see our city come alive with activities that bring us together as a community,” Nelson said. “My hope is the Farmer’s Market will become a part of our DNA in such a way that going to the market on Saturday morning becomes ‘the way we do it’ in Ennis.”
