Lion baseball and the visiting Waxahachie Indians each tallied two earned runs on Thursday night, but Ennis gave the green team a number of free runs both early and late in a contest it lost 7-2.
Ennis (16-12-1, 7-8) finished with fewer hits (2-6) and committed all five of the game’s errors. Even with everything that went wrong, the Lions had the opportunity to tie the game up at 3-3 in the bottom of the sixth with a runner on third.
“It’s never a good sign when you’ve got more errors than hits and more walks (allowed) than hits,” said coach Kevin Kalinec. “You can’t expect to win like that.”
