After recognizing the Ellis County Sheriff’s Office Explorers for their being honored as the Best in Texas, the Ellis County Commissioners voted down a two percent cost of living raise in favor of an increase of $952 across the board for elected officials.
Twenty three individuals were listed on the agenda to receive the two percent hike proposed during the public hearing at the Ellis County courthouse. It would have been their first in two years and the first for county judges in over five years.
