Oncor’s Paul Hernandez said much of the eastern area of Ennis left in the dark by power outages this morning is back online, with fewer than 100 remaining in town without power as of 3:30 p.m.

“Our folks are going to continue to work until everyone has power,” Hernandez said.

Earlier in the day, more than 1,100 people in town and a host of Ennis businesses were without electricity. Some establishments left without electricity opted to shut down for the day, with others waiting for power to be restored to open their doors.

Among them was Chili’s, which sent out notice that it would be open around 4:30 p.m. after power was restored this afternoon.
