The Ellis County Sheriff’s Office has been named the recipient of a $4,000 grant made possible through PetSmart’s community outreach initiative, PetSmart Gives Back. This is a new program that strives to give back to local communities throughout the nation in support of programs where pets enrich people’s lives as well as organizations that foster diversity and inclusion. The grant was awarded through PetSmart’s Ennis Distribution Center and is being utilized to enhance the Sheriff’s Office’s canine program.
“We deeply appreciate PetSmart’s outstanding support of our canine program,” Ellis County Sheriff Johnny Brown said. “This grant money has funded the construction of a canine training course and PetSmart associates have volunteered their time to paint the obstacles. This community partnership with PetSmart has provided a much needed resource for our canine program. In addition, we have made the course available to other agencies, which further extend the benefit of PetSmart’s gracious donation.”
