Shortly after conducting a similar initiative for the July 4 holiday, the Ellis County Sheriff’s Office is preparing to “step” up its enforcement of drunk driving laws for Labor Day weekend.
The “Selective Traffic Enforcement Program” provides grants for law enforcement organizations to put extra personnel on Texas highways to monitor for drunken drivers as part of the Texas Department of Transportation’s “Drink. Drive. Go To Jail” campaign which runs from Aug. 15 to Labor Day, Sept. 1.
