The Ennis Police Department will see some of the city’s most significant expenditures for new capital acquisitions in the coming year, including three new patrol vehicles.

The city began using the Chevrolet Tahoe Police Patrol Vehicle in 2012 after evaluating its options in 2011 as the Ford Crown Victoria was discontinued. Performance during 2012 and 2013 has been encouraging, said City Manager Steve Howerton, and three new vehicles are on tap in the proposed 2013-2014 budget under a budgeted amount of $104,900.
