Public works head hire on agenda

New City Manager Chuck Ewings wants the city’s public works director position filled, and he’s gotten the Ennis City Commission’s OK.

Ewings recommended Monday the commission sign off on a contract with Chris Hartung’s executive search firm to look for someone to fill the role. Ewings said while city staff have adequately performed public works functions and reported to the city manager’s office for at least two years while the job has been open, the department will run better with a chief.
