The Ennis ISD School Board approved a voluntary separation agreement with Superintendent Barbara Qualls on Tuesday, with Aug. 31 set as the last day of her four-year tenure with the district. Citing the desire to pursue a “different philosophical direction for the district,” the Board of Trustees agreed to pay Qualls a sum equal to her yearly compensation: $174,738.24.

The payment will come out of the district’s fund balance, according to Board President Bramlet Beard.
