‘Rainmaker’ soars for filled house

Nick Todaro, n...@ennisdailynews.com

Theatre Rocks! opened Friday night with a rebirth tale that rivals that of the Ennis theater community after a hard summer of work to open the new playhouse.

The Rainmaker, a redemption story by N. Richard Nash, tells the tale of how rain saves a drought-ridden rural town in the West in Depression-era America. More than that, it paints a picture of loneliness and the integrity of a family. With Theatre Rocks! born only this summer after Ennis saw a split in the local theater community, Director Bill Rhoten has chosen a tale sure to pull at the hearts of the audience, as it did for Friday’s sold-out crowd.
