Relay For Life teams gearing up for Saturday

After passing the $1 million mark a year ago, the Relay For Life of Ennis is preparing for their ninth year of raising funds for the American Cancer Society.

On Saturday, Event Chair Elizabeth Wester, ACS Representative Beth Anne Underwood, and a leadership team of 35 captains look to continue the campaign to fund research to find cancer’s cure.

Participants in the Relay For Life spend months gathering donations for cancer research before a triumphant day of walking around a quarter-mile track to secure those funds. The event will be held adjacent to Lion Memorial Stadium at 1701 Lake Bardwell Dr.

Over 600 registered last year and brought in $112,000 for ACS. Their record collection took place in 2009 when they totaled $156,000.
