Teletech boosts jobs goal

The grand opening for Teletech this week, beginning operations with more than 300 employees at the local facility, brings a turnaround for both the former Direct Energy property and the city.

In 2012, the city tangled with Direct Energy over the company’s default on its tax abatement agreement and land incentives agreement with Ennis after the firm announced it was shuttering its facility. In the aftermath, several companies investigated the call center facility, with Teletech ultimately sealing the deal and fueling enthusiasm for the jobs deal among city leaders.
