EDN Photo by Phil Banker / An 18-wheeler carrying industrial byproduct crashed through a guardrail and off an overpass Tuesday afternoon on Spur 469 north of Kaufman Street. Ennis Fire Chief Jeff Aycock said the front of the truck fell approximately 30 feet to the ground below and caught fire, trapping the driver inside. Aycock said firefighters were able to rescue the man from the truck and extinguish the fire. He said there is no ongoing environmental threat from the materials spilled from the truck. Spur 469 was closed for several hours following the crash.
