The Ellis County Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating how a trustee was able to unlock a secure door and briefly escape the Wayne McCollum Detention Center on Saturday. Chief Deputy Dennis Brearley said Jason Adcock, 36 of Dallas, was serving as a trustee in the kitchen area when he allegedly took a key from the kitchen office, walked out the back door and fled on foot.
Brearley said Adcock fled for 10 minutes before a detention officer caught up with him, reaching him at a creek south of the jail.
