Zapletal makes up for lost time

Ennis native Madalyn Zapletal came into high school focused on softball, but she changed directions and now loves the scenery of her new destination.

Madalyn Zapletal started her pole vaulting career as a junior and she's preparing for the regional track meet just one year later.
The Lady Lion senior took second place in the pole vault at the 15-4A Championship and is gearing up for the Region 2 Track and Field Meet next week. Madalyn recalls making the move to track and field as a junior.
“I didn’t think I’d become very good to where I’d place in district, much less qualify for regionals,” Zapletal said honestly. “To get to go now is pretty big. Coach (Lonnie) Redning had always talked to me about coming out for the team. When I decided to switch over, I decided I’d give vaulting a try.
