Edith J. Massey Greer (03-10-2010)
Photo of Edith J. Massey GreerEdith J. Massey Greer, of Ennis, died March 5, 2010.
She was born April 6, 1933 in Scurry, Texas to Roger M. Massey and Thomas Pearl Anthony Massey.
Edith attended Ennis Schools, working as a soda jerk at the local drug stores in her youth. She went to work for Ennis Business Forms in 1952 as floor sweeper, retired 39 years later, June 28, 1991, as the Floor Lady. An avid sports fan, Edith enjoyed watching many sports, but particularly loved Ennis football, Lady Lions volleyball and Texas Rangers Baseball. She loved listening, and dancing, to country music.
Never the materialist, a smile, a hug and a good conversation were her life's treasures; in her home, love and discipline were dealt equally. Life, love, shelter, and selfless nurturing were her gifts to family and friend alike. In her later years, she took pleasure in a good book, large puzzles, listening to ball games on the radio, and spoiling her grandkids.
She is survived by two sons: Roy W. Greer, and (wife) Jerri, and Ronnie G. Greer, and (wife) Sandra, all of Ennis; a niece Janice Hefner Hix, of Waxahachie; and a nephew, Roger Hefner, and (wife) Cathy, of Ennis; eight grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
Memorial Services were held Wednesday, March 10, 2010 at 2 p.m. in the Keever Chapel, under the direction of J.E. Keever Mortuary, Inc.
