Martha E. Melton (04-06-2010)
Martha E. Melton, 85, departed her earthly home in Ennis on Tuesday morning March 30, 2010 for her new home with Jesus Christ her Savior.Martha was born in Ennis, Texas on Sept. 30, 1924 to David M. and Mary Etta (Collier) Rogers. She grew up in Ennis and attended Hopewell School. On October 23, 1948 she married G. G. Melton and they originally made their home in Waxahachie and Clifton before moving to Ennis in September of 1963.
She worked for Hagger Slacks for over 10 years as a seamstress but her main occupation was being a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was a member of Creechville Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband G. G. Melton: two sons, Roger Melton and his wife, Debbie of Ennis and Gaines Melton and his wife, Lisa of Alma; one daughter: Darlene Bartel of Murfreesboro, Tennessee: four grandchildren and three sisters; JoAnn Buchanan of Midlothian, Mary L. Spivey and Peggy F. Hall both of Farmers Branch. She is preceded in death by her parents, six brothers, one sister and one grandson.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, March 31, 2010 from 6 until 8 p.m. at J.E. Keever Mortuary.
Services will be on Thursday, April 1, 2010 at 11 a.m. in J.E. Keever Mortuary Chapel with Rev. Jessie Simon and Rev. Harold O’Neil officiating. Interment will be at a later date at the DFW National Cemetery.
The family request that in lieu of flowers donations be made in her honor to Creechville Baptist Church.
