Laura Ray Wittler (05-07-2010)
Laura Ray Wittler of Corsicana, Texas went to be with the Lord at 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 5, 2010.
She was born Laura Harriett Lillie on Jan. 10, 1918 to Edward Marquiss and Mary Harriett (Misel) Lillie in a rural area near Marengo, Iowa. She was one of eleven children. All of her siblings preceded her in death except for a sister, Addie Saltzman of Great Falls, Montana.
Laura was married in 1939 to Willie Bell Ray who died in 1968. She married Jacob Wittler in 1986. Jacob preceded her in death in 1994.
Laura is survived by two sons, Charles Ray of Corsicana (wife Debbie Ray) and Gerry Ray of Salinas, California (wife Jill Ray), grandchildren Mitchell Ray of Columbia, South Carolina: Kelly Meier (husband Andy) of San Diego, California: and Michele Ray of Ennis, Texas. One grandson, Michael Sean Ray preceded her in death. Also surviving her are great grandchildren Brittnee Ray and Michael Ray of Ennis, Texas and Carson Meier of San Diego, California.
She was dearly loved by the family of Jacob Wittler who was the father of three girls and five boys and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Laura lived in Paso Robles, California most of her adult life where she worked for the Ennis Business Forms plant located there. After the death of her first husband she relocated to the Monterey peninsula where she did office work. After marrying Wittler she relocated to Union City, California. In 2005 she moved to Texas to Heritage Oaks Retirement Village in Corsicana where she remained until her death.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. on Monday, May 10, 2010 in Myrtle Cemetery of Ennis with Rev. Sandy Hippmann of Lakeside United Methodist Church in Streetman, Texas under the direction of J.E. Keever Mortuary, Inc.
