Elmo B. Wade


1943118Elmo B. Wade, 87, passed away in Ennis, Texas on Sunday, February 3, 2013. Elmo was born in Commerce, Texas on September 10, 1925 to Harvey and Emma (Wwbb) Wade. He grew up in Ladonia and graduated from Commerce High School in 1940. He received a degree in Civil Engineering from Oklahoma State University. On July 4, 1953 he married Mary Nelson and they made their home in Houston, San Antonio and then to Ennis in 1963. He served his country proudly in the United States Army serving in the Pacific Theater. He worked for Southern Pacific Railroad for ten years as the Assistant Division Engineer. He was a Registered Professional Engineer, State of Texas. He founded and was owner of Trac-Work from 1973 until 1990 when he retired. He served on the Boards of Polyguard, InterFirst Bank of Ennis and the Baylor Hospital Board in Ennis. Mr. Wade was a Founding member of the National Railroad Construction and Maintenance Association. He was a member of the Ennis Lions Club, and served as a Board member for the Ennis Golden Circle. He was an Assistant Engineer for the City of Ennis and served on the Board of Rail Port in Midlothian. Elmo was a long-time member of the Ennis Airport Board and a licensed private pilot. In addition, Mr. Wade served on the Ellis County Tax Appraisal District Review Board and the Ellis Central Appraisal District Board. He is survived by his wife, Mary N. Wade of Ennis; son, Ryan Wade and his wife Debby of Grapevine; daughters: Kerry and her husband, Mark Denyer of Bartlesville, OK and Christy and her husband, Paul Lamb of Austin and seven grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Edsel Wade and one sister, May E. Gay. A Memorial Service will be held Sunday, February 10, 2013 in the Family Life Center of Tabernacle Baptist Church, 1200 Country Club Road, Ennis at 3:00 p.m. www.jekeevermortuary.com
