Evelyn Starek


Evelyn Starek, 78, passed away at the IOOF Nursing Home of Ennis on Saturday, October 20, 2012.

Evelyn was born in Fruitvale, Texas on September 24, 1934 to John I. and Mary (Foster) Shield. She grew up in Fruitvale and graduated from Grand Saline High School. She attended Tyler Junior College. On February 14, 1999 she married Ramon Starek and they made their home in Ennis.

She worked for the Ennis Auction Barn for eleven years as bookkeeper and then for Supreme Tire Company for thirty-five years as the bookkeeper. She was a member of Damascus Road Fellowship and had been a past Grand Matron of the Rebecca Lodge and member of the SPJST. She enjoyed traveling.

She is survived by her husband, Ramon Starek of Ennis; son, Randy Lambert of Fort Worth; daughters Rhonda Gail Tilson of Fruitvale and Tami Carpenter of Ennis; seven grandchildren: several great-grandchildren including Madysen Cox and one brother, James W. Shield of Burleson.

She is preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Foster Shield and A.M. Shield and one daughter Marcy Martinez.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, October 23, 2012 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. in the J.E. Keever Mortuary of Ennis. A Celebration of her life will take place on Wednesday, October 24, 2012 at 2:30 p.m. in the J.E. Keever Mortuary Chapel of Ennis with Rev. Glen Hejny officiating under the direction of J.E. Keever Mortuary, Inc.
