Helen Sims Howson

2243805Helen Sims Howson passed away Tuesday, September 17, 2013 in Dallas, Texas. She was 88. Helen Sims was born July 29, 1925 in Garrett, Texas to parents Burta Groves and John William Sims. She attended The Hockaday School, graduating with honors and Southern Methodist University, where she belonged to Pi Beta Phi. She was married to George Nesbit Howson, Jr. from October 31, 1946 until his death August 11, 1991. Helen was a long-time member of Northway Christian Church, Daughters of the Republic of Texas, National Society of the Dames of the Court of Honor, Dallas Pioneer Society, Dallas Genealogical Society, Town North Antique Study Club and Circle Review Book Club. Helen is survived by her beloved sons: Ronald Jay Howson, and his wife Karen, and Philip Michael Howson, and his wife Donna. The grandchildren she adored were: Mike, John, Greg and his wife, Elizabeth, and Valerie. The special loves of her life were great-grandchildren: Brooks, Lauren, Jack and Isabelle and several cousins. She is preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Ronald E. Sims. The family will receive friends Thursday, September 19, 2013 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at J. E. Keever Mortuary, 408 N. Dallas Street, Ennis, Texas. Graveside Services will be held Friday, September 20, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. in Myrtle Cemetery, with Dr. Douglas B. Skinner officiating under the direction of J. E.
