Jimmie Trahan


2378479Jimmie Trahan, 87, passed away in Ennis, Texas on Friday, January 10, 2014. Jimmie was born in Hayes, LA on May 2, 1926 to Felix and Margaret (Vincent) Trahan. He attended school in Hayes and Lake Arthur, LA. On September 6, 1948 he married Bobbie J. Ray and they made their home in Jennings, LA before moving to Ennis in 1955. He served his country proudly in the United States Army as a Staff Sergeant during WWII in China, Burma and India. He worked for the Southern Pacific Railroad for over thirty three years as a switchman before his retirement in 1988. He was a member of the Catholic Church. He enjoyed Hunting, fishing, gardening and taking care of his cattle. He was instrumental in the construction work and opening of the 85 Speedway. He is survived by his wife, Bobbie Trahan; daughters: Carolyn Schlebach, Sandra Taylor and Janice McAda and husband Gene; eight grandchildren: fourteen great-grandchildren: two sisters: Virginia Jackson and Margaret Hebert along with several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Felix and Margaret Trahan, sisters Lovenia Harrison and Margie Beeson, one brother Freeman “Shorty” Trahan, granddaughter Elizabeth Schlebach , one great-granddaughter, Elizabeth Amanda Lawrence and one son-in-law Joseph Schlebach. Visitation was held on Sunday, January 12, 2014 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. in the J.E. Keever Mortuary of Ennis. A Celebration of his life took place on Monday, January 13, 2014 at 2 p.m. in the J. E. Keever Mortuary Chapel of Ennis. Interment followed in Myrtle Cemetery under the direction of J.E. Keever Mortuary, Inc. www.jekeevermortuary.com
