Mary “Nena” Woodard


2378474Mary ”Nena” Woodard, 72, went home to be with the Lord on Friday afternoon, January 10, 2014 in the comfort of her home surrounded by her family. Mary was born on July 12, 1941 to Walter Elmo and Alta Mae (Muscik) Harris in Mount Calm, Texas. She was raised in the Rice and Ennis Area. Mary was an inspiration to every life she touched, whether it be in the fifteen years of service with the IOOF Nursing Home or the twenty-six years with Mary’s Cleaning Service. Nena was such a sweet, caring woman that possessed a deep love for her friends and lived entirely for her family. She was a kind, selfless person who fought each battle in her life in order to be here for her grandkids and great-grandchildren. Nena recently celebrated thirteen years of a double lung transplant on January 5, 2014. Mary is survived by her husband of fifty-one years, Donald Woodard; one daughter, Monica Butler; five grandchildren: Nathan Woodard, Conner and Magen Butler and T.J. and Cody Schilling; four great-grandchildren: Colt, Eli and Cayden Schilling, Brady Sparkman and one great-granddaughter on the way, Jolee Grace Sparkman along with several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, one son, Randy Woodard, two sisters, Mae Dale Marks and Katherine Rager, one brother, Jo Foster and son-in-law, Carl Butler. Visitation was held on Monday, January 13, 2014 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. in the J.E. Keever Mortuary of Ennis. A Celebration of her life took place on Tuesday, January 14, 2014 at 11 a.m. in the J.E. Keever Mortuary Chapel of Ennis. Pallbearers were be Conner Butler, Nathan Woodard, Travis Schilling, Cody Schilling, Craig Fincher, and Dillon Fincher. Honorary pallbearers were Danny Rager and Steve Rager. Interment will follow in the Myrtle Cemetery under the direction of J.E. Keever Mortuary, Inc. Special Thank You, to Dr. Kenneth Ausloos and the Cardiothoracic Transplantation Program for giving her a second chance of life.
