Maurine Overall


Maurine Overall, 88, passed away in Ennis, Texas on Wednesday, August 7, 2014. Maurine was born in Fannin County, Texas on August 19, 1925 to Robert E. and Bessie Mae (Holman) West. She grew up in Greenville, Texas and graduated from Greenville High School. She went on to receive her degree in Education from East Texas State. On December 23, 1945 she married John W. Overall and they moved to Ennis in 1951. She worked for the Ennis ISD for over thirty-one years as a Home Economics Teacher retiring in 1985. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Ennis where she served as a Sunday school teacher for the Senior Couples class and helped created the Blessed Assurance Committee. She was a charter member of the Vocational Homemaking Teachers Association and represented the area on the Board of Directors, was a member of T.S.T.A., was the Retired Teachers Association 2nd VP in 1996 and member of the 20th Century Club. She enjoyed quilting and her family was the light of her life. Maurine touched the lives of many in Ennis with her special abilities in teaching and her love of her community. She is survived by son, John Overall of South Fork, CO; six grandchildren: Julie, Jeanette, Rebekka, Kelsey, Hannah and Aaron; six great-grandchildren and one brother, Robert West of Garland. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, John Overall on November 24, 1992, one daughter Linda Kay Overall in 1957 and one sister. Visitation will be held on Monday, August 11, 2014 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. in the J.E. Keever Mortuary of Ennis. A Celebration of her life will be held on Tuesday, August 12, 2014 in the J.E. Keever Mortuary Chapel of Ennis at 10 a.m. Interment will follow in the Myrtle Cemetery of Ennis under the direction of J.E. Keever Mortuary, Inc. The family requests donation be made in Maurine’s name to the Retired Teachers Scholarship Fund. www.jekeevermortuary.com
