Mildred Dlabaj Wickliffe


WickliffeMildred Ann Dlabaj Wickliffe, 80, passed away peacefully at home on January 10, 2014. Mildred was a lifelong resident of Ennis, having been born on January 31, 1933, the 11th of 12 children to Frank and Mary Dlabaj. Mildred married Johnny I. Wickliffe on September 3, 1955. She worked for a time at Marylin Belts and Bags in Ferris but decided to dedicate her life to making a wonderful home for her family. Mildred was a faithful member of St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church and was a wonderful example to everyone around her. She loved doing various types of crafts and decorating her home, and was affectionately known as “Granny” to her family. Mildred was preceded in death by her husband Johnny I. Wickliffe, her parents, her siblings Frank Jr., John, Joe, Charlie, Stanley, Aloisie, and Emily Dlabaj, Annie Kovar, Mary Sladecek, and an infant daughter Mary Ann Wickliffe. Mildred is survived by three children: Patti and Gary Strunc, Johnny L. and Tish Wickliffe, and Gary and Brenda Wickliffe, all of Ennis; four grandchildren: Jessica and Santos Diaz, Randy Strunc, Chris Wickliffe, and Melanie Wickliffe; three great-grandchildren: Matthew, Ryan, and Jillian Diaz; three step-grandchildren; six step-great-grandchildren; siblings Albin and Mildred Dlabaj, and Elsie and George Rackley; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. with a Rosary at 7p.m. on Monday, January 13, 2014 at the Boze-Mitchell-McKibbin Chapel in Ennis. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on January 14, 2014 at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church with Fr. John Dick as celebrant. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. Pallbearers will be: Gary Strunc, Randy Strunc, Chris Wickliffe, Santos Diaz, Matthew Diaz, Ryan Diaz and Andy Thomas.
