Robert Martinez


Robert Martinez, 86, passed away on Thursday, April 12, 2012.  He was born in Italy, Texas on June 6, 1925 to Faustino and Alberta Martinez.  On July 2, 1955, he was married to Timotea Santos where they made their home in Ennis, Texas.  He worked at Leggett & Platt in Ennis; then as a barber with his brothers-in-law, Johnny Santos and the late Charlie Santos for 44 years in Dallas, known as the “Ennis Barber”. Robert was a man of many talents which included playing instruments (accordion, guitar, harmonica, etc.), singing, dancing, and fishing. He was an avid member of St. John Catholic Church.
He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Timotea Martinez of Ennis; brother, Salvador Martinez and sister, Victoria Santos of Avalon, Texas; two sons, Robert (Beaver) Martinez, Jr., Albert Martinez and his wife Patsy; two daughters, Mary Aguirre and Julia Martinez; ex daughter-in-law, Melinda Martinez; nine grandchildren, Jude Martinez, Ashley Arias, Zeke Martinez, Jillian Martinez, Jessie Aguirre, Angelica Lopez, Miranda Martinez, Rebecca Aguirre, and Veronica Aguirre; four great grandchildren, Penny Layne Bernal, Jordani Arias, Kylan Sadler, and Adaley Bernal; several nieces and nephews.
Robert is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Jesse Martinez, and Joe Martinez; sister, Cruzita Martinez, all of Avalon, Texas and son-in-law, Jose Aguirre of Ennis.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 P.M. with a Rosary at 7 P.M. on Monday, April 16, 2012 at Boze-Mitchell-McKibbin Funeral Home in Ennis.
Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for 10 A.M. on Tuesday, April 17, 2012 at St. John Catholic Church.  Interment will follow at Italy Cemetery.
