Ronald Bruce Kilgore
Ronald Bruce Kilgore went to be with the Lord and Savior in peace on Thursday, April 24, 2014. He was born to parents Alice M and Riley Kilgore at home in San Benito, Texas on December 1, 1941 (just a few days prior to the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor). He was preceded in death by both his parents: brother, Riley Gerald Kilgore and sister, Alice Louise Kilgore – Schmitt.
He is survived by his wife, Jo Hammons-Kilgore and Ron’s two sons: Ronald Leeman Kilgore of Colorado, and his two children, Ian and Caleb; and by his youngest son, William Bruce Kilgore and wife Julie of Havre, Montana and their three children, Hailee, Barrett and Riley.
Ron most recently retired from the Texas Department of Criminal Justice. Prior to that, he had worked in the savings and loan and insurance businesses. He was also self-employed as a residential builder contractor. Ron served our country as a Ground Radio Operator in the United States Air Force and was stationed in Greenland. After serving four years he was honorably discharged in March 2, 1967.
In the years that Ron lived in South Texas he truly enjoyed hunting and deep sea fishing in the Gulf with his two sons. They all had wonderful memories of those trips.
Ronald will be greatly missed by his wife, his sons, grandchildren and other family members. A private memorial service is planned for a later date.
The family wishes to thank their church family and friends for all the prayers and support during their time of illness and loss.
Memorial gifts can be given in Ron’s honor to Farley Street Baptist Church, 1116 Brown Street, Waxahachie, TX 75165.
