Walter Houston Gunn
Walter Houston Gunn, 81, passed away in Dallas on Tuesday, September 25, 2012.
Walter was born in Lockney, Texas on May 26, 1931 to Robert Houston and Sallie Ann (Matthews) Gunn. He grew up in the West Texas Panhandle. He graduated from Flomot High School in 1948. He served his country proudly in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict.
He worked for AT&T for over thirty years as a supervisor. He was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church, American Legion, Ennis Country Club, and Toast Masters. He served as PTA President, Cub Scout Leader and Cub Scout Master. He coached Little League Baseball for many years and was an avid golfer. He was a devoted father, grandfather and friend.
He is survived by sons: Larry Gunn and his wife, Anna; Steve Gunn, Scott Gunn and his wife, Haley; daughter, Karen Gunn; eleven grandchildren: Christina, Andrea, Brooke, Kendra, Nathan, Matt, Ryan, Travis, Garrett, Dylan and Tonya; four great-grandchildren; the mother of his children; Joyce Gunn and two sisters: Mary Walling and Cora Gail Johnson.
He is preceded in death by his parents, one grandson, Brad Gunn in 2001, one sister, Peggy McCracken and one brother Jerry Gunn.
Visitation will be on Thursday, September 27, 2012 from 6 until 8 p.m. in the J.E. Keever Mortuary of Ennis, Texas. A Celebration of his life will take place on Friday, September 28, 2012 at 2 p.m. in the J.E. Keever Mortuary Chapel of Ennis. Pallbearers will be Tom Evan, Ray Glenn Davis, Mike Moreland, Bradley Young, Bob Scaggs and Jack Henning. Interment will follow in Myrtle Cemetery under the direction of J.E. Keever Mortuary, Inc.
